Patricia Kahn

Patricia Kahn is a home owner in the French Quarter having lived there with her husband Gregory since 1978,along with their cat and 15 turtles. Prior to relocating to New Orleans from her home town, Chevy Chase, MD., Pat held the position of Personnel Director with several federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area. Her husband is a native New Orleanian. Since her relocation here, Pat has been a one 'man' Chamber of Commerce to promote the French Quarter and the local area. Pat's home dates back to the early 1800's and is magnificently appointed with precious antiques including an early mallard crown canopy bed. She has had many requests to open her home for tours to benefit local charities. Her property is a key lot in the block and has ample parking interspersed with her master quality bonsai and spectacular bougainvillea. In addition, Pat and her husband handle several rental units in the French Quarter Pat graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in education and has some post graduate study in industrial psychology at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. During her first years in the business field, Pat worked for some of the leading corporations.....IBM, General Electric, Control Data Corporation, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Library of Congress, and then on to several federal agencies including the Departments of Commerce, Interior, Labor, and Treasury. Positions she has held in Louisiana are with the Departments of Commerce and Treasury, the World Trade Center, and Dorian M. Bennett, Inc. (Real Estate) During her stint with the World Trade Center, Pat became interested in the International market and established her own company. As president of International Imports, Inc., Pat has experience in the international arena and has travelled abroad to Canada, the Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Bosnia Yugoslavia, England, Scotland, Monaco, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, The Netherlands, and Lichtenstein. Pat has also travelled extensively in the U.S. having been to all but 7 of the 50 states. In her personal life, activity is non stop. She is past president of the Military Officers (Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy) Wives Club, on the board of the Navy League, Member of the Navy Officers Wives Club and past member of the Krewe of Iris Mardi Gras Club. In addition, she is an active member of the Patio Planters Society of the French Quarter having served on their board of directors and handled several of their annual programs. Pat and her husband are also members of the Vieux Carre Property Owners and Residents Association. She is also a member of the Greater New Orleans Bonsai Society and served as president during the year of their first international convention here. She is a past member of Bonsai Clubs International and her bonsai are impressive. In addition, Pat also is well known for her Ikebana arrangements and has studied Ikebana for many years and has been a member of Ikebana International. Pat has also been a charter member of the Board of the Japanese Garden Society and is a Kappa Kappa Gamma. Pat is a member of the Rosary Group and the Eucharistic Minister at her church and served as one of the volunteers during the Papal visit to New Orleans and is a charter member of the Mir Group. Her civic contributions include pro bono work as an arbitrator for the Louisiana State Bar Association. She is also on the list of mediators for the State Supreme Court of Louisiana specializing in employment, real estate and appraisal issues. Pat is a member of the French American Chamber of Commerce and the World Trade Center. Pat also serves on the Board of the Greater New Orleans Council of the Navy League of the United States as Vice President for Public Relations.
