-The Krauss Building @ 1201 Canal
History
For 94 years, 1201 Canal Street was home to the Krauss Department Store, once the largest department store in the South. Krauss opened for business on April 13, 1903, and expanded over the years to include more than 300,000 square feet on six levels covering two city blocks. From the long Formica lunch counter with the round red stools, to the madams and ladies of Storyville who once shopped within the store, the Krauss building enjoys a unique and storied place in New Orleans history. This historic building has been transformed through extensive redevelopment to be the new home of 1201 Canal Condominiums, an upscale community of 233 luxury residences and over 25,000 square feet of street-front retail.

4. You have the right to “instalment” payments. If you end up owing money you can set up monthly payments. Just fill out and submit Form 433A and they will determine the amount you need to pay.
5. You have the right to challenge IRS notices. Just a little fewer than 50% of all IRS notices, requesting more money, are incorrect or incomplete. They keep sending them because it has shown that people would rather just pay the money than fight the IRS.
6. You have the right to use a Taxpayer Advocate. If you feel you are getting the run around and no body is willing to help you, you can contact a taxpayer advocate. It’s a division of the IRS to help those who feel they are getting the run around.Visit the IRS website and you’ll see the link “Contact Your Advocate” it’s free and confidential.
7. You have the right to make audio recordings when you meet, but you have to notify the IRS 10 days before.
8. You have the right to represent yourself at an IRS audit but the tax code is complicated unless your familiar with specifics. If you have a CPA they’ll usually help but if you end up in US Tax Court, hiring a tax expert is highly recommitted.
