Dorian Bennett Sotheby’s International Realty sponsored and participated in NOMAR”s First Annual Housing Fair held Saturday, June 6, 2009.  DBSIR Agents on hand to meet the public one on one were Cindy Flannery, Matthew La Rose, Ian Cockburn and Georgia Saucier. 

About 150 people from the New Orleans Metropolitan area turned out for this first free event of its kind in our area.  Potential homebuyers had an opportunity to meet and talk with industry experts who shared advice and guidance on the home buying process.  Participants and sponsors included local REALTORS, credit counselors, mortgage lenders, insurance agents, contractors, home inspectors, appraisers and community agencies.

Workshops were offered on such topics as “How to Raise Your Credit Score”, “How to Get Pre-Approved”, “1^st Time Homebuyer $8,000 Tax Credit”, “Pathway to Homeownership Soft Second Program” , “Buying vs Renting”, “ How to Buy and Rehab a Home with HUD’s 203K Loan Program”,  and all about the “FEMA Flood Maps”.

Gift bags, give-a-ways and free refreshments where on hand for all.  The goal was for everyone in attendance to receive valuable information and have a great time while doing so, which I think was accomplished.  If you couldn’t make this year’s event please stay tuned because we anticipate it getting bigger and better next year.
