310 N. Wall Street - "Choctaw"
Choctaw was built in 1836 by a prominent contractor and real estate investor Joseph Neibert an it was known as “The Hall” for the first few years but apparently became known as “Choctaw” just prior to the war.
It is recognized by architectural historians for its transitional style from Federal to Greek Revival. The portico is Federal and features Roman Ionic columns and an oval light in the pediment, but the entrance doorway and interior millwork are Greek. By all accounts it is a splendid building.

Back Gallery
In the last twenty years it has had an extensive and award winning restoration; today it is a solid and well maintained structure with modern amenities and very little deferred maintenance.
It shares the block bounded by High, Canal, and Jefferson Streets with the City Auditorium and offers various opportunities for developign gardens and automobile access while affording enormous privacy and security.
The very separate lower ground floor consisting of five principal rooms and four baths has been used for a B&B in the recent past. It has convenient street access and would be suitable for any retail or office situation.

Second Floor Bedroom Level
The upper floors are stunning. The main floor with 13 foot ceilings has a traditional layout with double parlors to the left and dining room and appropriate kitchen to the right. The center hall has a front section and a larger rear section with a sweeping oval staircase to the right. A wide 48 foot long gallery runs along the rear with access from the back parlor and the stair hall.
The second floor bedroom level repeats the layout of the main floor with an elaborate master suite to the right that features a huge custom marble bath.
The grand staircase takes you to the third floor, a brightly lit room with rows of windows on four sides of the cupola.
